St Andrews EV Medium

St Andrews Parish Council is delighted to announce that it has begun the process of switching its fleet to electric vehicles with the lease of a new Toyota Proace Electric Icon to be used by the Grounds Maintenance staff.

The New Proace Electric Icon was the chosen vehicle for the parish council as it combines the carrying capabilities and versatility of the conventional Proace van with the performance and efficiency of an all-electric, powertrain. The vehicle runs without fossil fuels and produces no harmful C02 emissions or NOx gases at the tailpipe whilst driving. It has a 75 kWh battery which will deliver approximately 200 miles and a payload of up to 1,000kg the vehicle is well equipped to meet the needs of our ground staff’s activities.

The parish council will be looking to change more of the grounds maintenance vehicles to electric when the current leases come to an end.

Cllr Vera Tomlinson, Chairman of the Parish Council said “It is wonderful news that we finally have our first electric vehicle. We are looking at other ways the parish council can make changes to how we work, taking a further step in the right direction with our approach to climate change”
